Name: Mokaan.
Alignment: Good.
Domain Elves Sidhe.
Portfolio: Music, Heroism.
Symbol: His golden harp with silver strings.
Description: Mokaan is the god of the Sidhe, of those who make music for pleasure, of those who wish to become heroes. He himself is a rash but noble god, eager and loyal. The schism of wildness and honor in his soul is something passed down to all of his creations.
Mokaan often appears as an Sidhe bard with wild straw-colored hair, with a sword at his side and his Harp of Truth slung across his back.
Commands:
- Honor is important, but don't be stupid about it and put it before virtue.
- Music is beautiful. Learn how to play and you'll be better off for it, my lad.
- And especially don't even think of stretching the truth to get a better story, I never wou- ahem, I mean even though I don't set a very good example.
Time of Beginnings: Mokaan first awoke when he was created by the first song, that of the birds, and lo! the gods were amazed at the creation of their newest brother. Mokaan spoke first to wyld Tome-La, then to the stoic Skaldi. Then when they left on their buisness, Mokaan forgotten in their haste, he went from that place across the waves, and played a song upon his harp upon the waves. And lo! it was no ordinary song, but a song of creation and magic. He sang the isle of the Sidhe into existance, then sang the first Sidhe themselves into the world, and they were known as Awsh and Elyna.
Time of Troubles: Awsh and Elyna were murdered most foully by the Accursed above All, Solmur. Mokaan regained their souls from the moon, and lo! he appeared before the Deathlord, and the music of storm and rock followed him. Lo! he did return the souls of Awsh and Elyna to life, and grant them power divine to protect their desendants. And Mokaan laughed in the face of death, for no longer would the Murderer's cold hands take the souls of the Sidhe - Mokaan himself would claim them.
Time of Music and Magic: And Mokaan did smile upon the Kobolds, whose hearts were large and dreams were beyond their grasp. Mokaan took a group of Kobolds led by Teltar to his Isle, and showed them a place where they could settle down and grow prosperous. And lo! he did defend his people against Alaraxar's curse and banish him from the Isle. Last of all, Mokaan did give a gift of power to Tome-La, that a Moon of Madness might be made. And lo! the Mad Moon was made, and it did shine well upon the world. Mokaan reached into its soul and produced creative order from chaos, and all who looked upon the Mad Moon were inspired; and their souls did dance and sing. And Mokaan gave the first instruments to the races of the world - every instrument to its proper race. The Sidhe were granted the Harp, and the Kobolds were given the Fiddle.
Time of Strife and Defense: And Mokaan did create the Annwn, and they were the guardians and servants of the Sidhe. And they were imprisoned in gemstones of Mokaan's divine design, and lo! they were released by any Sidhe who held their stone. And in time, the Sidhe did part with their mad kin, the Alsidhe. And thus was the brutal kinstrife.
Time of the Gnolls: And Alaraxar, the Wild Hunter, did descend upon the Sidhe-land with his bestial children, to rip apart the Sidhe. But the Sidhe were not defenseless, and Prince Carabas stood forth with Gallan, and so did Grimwyn Annwn-Lord and his huntress Llyndis of the Black Fangs, and so did Princess Shyla who wielded the power of spirits and Mokaan's music in her blade; and so did a hundred other heroes whose names are not recorded here.
*Creations of Mokaan:*
The Sidhe: Their skin was luminous, their ears thin and pointed, their hair and eyes bright and colorful - they shifted color, in fact, to match their emotions. Now they were bright green with curiosity. They were thin and tall, stretched out, one could say. Their souls were pure and bright, strong and tenacious. - The Lay of Creation.
The Sidhe are forest-dwelling mortals, hunters and resourceful scavengers. The seven clans are the great political forces of the Sidhe-land, and the small wooden forts known as Caers dot the isle.
The Sidhe-land, Mokaan's Isle: a magical isle created by Mokaan's songs. It is now great and vast, containing mountains - and a dormant volcano - massive forests and a desert.
Awsh and Elyna, Firstborn, The Lost Guardians: Awsh was clad in armor of shimmering bronze and multi-colored leaves, with a double-bladed spear upon his back. His helm was engraved with the curving horns of a stag. Elyna was clad in luminous green and white, two great wings like those of a white eagle on her back; she carried no weapon but her magical power was great.
The firstborn Sidhe were murdered by Solmur, but Mokaan returned them to life and gave them great power. They now protect the Sidhe and the Sidhe-land. Or at least, they did. Elyna was seduced by the Imp King, and in a fit of rage, Awsh challenged him and was slain. Now they are no more.
The Annwn: The Annwn are the guardians of the Sidhe, and their protectors, and their friends and constant companions. Spirits secreted away within gemstones of Mokaan's shaping, their stones are scattered all over the isle and they are deathly loyal to the one who finds their stone, and the ones that the stone is passed on to.
Eagles, hawks, foxes, wolves... they have many forms, and they are all deadly in battle.
Gallan: Awsh reborn, Gallan is tranquil and adventurous compared to Awsh - but he's just as deadly, and only gives one second chance. He wields the Blade of Song, Disart. He is the new defender of the Sidhe, leading them and ensuring that they survive.
Disart, the Blade of Song: Gallan's blade, that screams with the sound of lightening, wind, horn and harp when it is wielded, and its rhythm is mysterious and frightening. It glows from within with azure light, and hums even when it is not in use.
