LoC: The Chains of Aeon : Mortivore

Mortivores are a creation of Sulmur; who created them for the purpose of hunting down souls in the Mortal Plane and expelling them from the plane.
Mortivores have a natural sense for spirits, and can track them over long distances by this sense. Heroes would encounter Mortivores if one of their party members died and they were resurrecting him or her. The Mortivore would be attracted to the spirit, and would attempt to interrupt the resurrection by chasing the spirit from the body. Temples which offer resurrection services are often plagued by large numbers of Mortivores because of the constant draw of souls to the area.
In combat, Mortivores are terrifying and merciless. They are not hardy, so they rely on their flying mobility to make quick strikes in combat and then retreat before they strike again. Additionally, their natural abilities are geared more toward combating incorporeal opponents than physical ones, so they are not as much of a threat to mortals, except when they reach great experience.
Mortivores attack alone 90% of the time, and they tend to only involve themselves with spirits around their own strength, so the strength of a Mortivore encountered by a party will be on a comparable level to their own. Mortivores are elites, but they are not intended as an encounter unto themselves. Instead, they are meant more as a complication to other encounters.
Mortivores will not actively attack mortals, and will flee if attacked by mortals. But a Mortivore will do almost anything to drive a spirit from the plane.

Mortivore:
Think this, but less clothes, less refined, and more screeching and clawing at your face as it flies by you. Unlike Succubi, Mortivores make no attempt to act attractive. They have no interest in attracting men's souls, in fact, they want the opposite.
Clawing at your face!

They will begin combat by diving out of the blue with a Flyby Attack, and then using a standard move action to return to the air to avoid melee attacks. The huntress will use Shifting Flight to dodge ranged attacks once in the air. In attacking, the huntress will repeatedly attack any player who is participating in a ressurection ritual, who is attempting to retain a soul in any way, or who was just resurrected. Once the enemy is bloodied, the huntress will move into melee and use her Soul Render to finish them off. Mortivores will never fight to the death, but will instead flee when they are reduced to around 20 HP.

Tactics: Soulterror Greatmothers will attempt to maintain an altitude advantage, just as with all mortivores, and engages targets with the same priorities. Greatmothers also do not fight to the death, and will flee when reduced to around 40 HP. In combat, greatmothers will maintain distance and attack from range using Soul Blast until an enemy is bloodied. Then, the greatmother will land near this enemy and use Aura of Terror to scatter opposition, moving in to attack the original target with Sould Render on the next turn. If there are other mortivores around, they coordinate with the greatmother's tactics. Huntresses will attack in melee when the greatmother does, using their Soul Render on stunned enemies to provide cover for the greatmother. They will then maintain near ground flight and defend the greatmother as it takes to the air, only retreating once the greatmother is safe.

Mortivores are natives to, and commonly found, in the Barren Mort, which is on square (23,23).
